mangrove snake bite

Rear fanged snakes’ fangs have grooves and the venom is released slowly as the snake chews its prey. The fangs are not large, and it isn’t easy to get a good bite on a human leg or arm where venom can be transferred. The risk of serious allergic reaction is always a possibility with any venomous animal. Don’t attempt to hand-hold a snake that is prone to biting. The mangrove snake’s venom is quite weak. Furthermore, snake venom (or any natural toxin for that matter) will be tolerated differently by different people. They can be confused with the deadly, venomous banded krait. Contrary to pit vipers or cobras rear-fanged snake venom delivery system doesn’t possess a highly improved venom receptor, duct system or venom fangs. The mangrove snake is a rear-fanged species and believed only mildly venomous, and there has not been a confirmed human fatality. Boiga dendrophila, commonly called the mangrove snake or the gold-ringed cat snake, is a species of rear-fanged snake in the family Colubridae. The species is endemic to southeast Asia.It is one of the biggest cat snake species, averaging 6–8 feet (1.8–2.4 m) in length. I know a Burmese man that worked in the snake show in Krabi for years, he was bitten many times by this species while on a boat collecting them in the mangroves. It should be noted that there are no reported cases of a human fatality occurring as a result of a mangrove snake bite. The longer the bite, the more toxic it will be.
